Argao brings Gabii sa Kabilin to the south

Weaving together tales of the past, tasting the dishes passed down from generations, and the cultural dances and musical recitals that serenade the very roots of our identity, the Argao's leg of Gabii sa Kabilin was definitely a treat that you should experience in the coming years.

The Municipality of Argao through its Tourism Commission with Cebu Technological University - Argao Campus and Archdiocesan Shrine of St. Micheal Parish of Argao held 2nd Gabii sa Kabilin.

This developed as a step to expanding the coverage of Gabii sa Kabilin which is originally initiated by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. and its partners since 2007 where museums and heritage sites in Cebu and Mandaue cities open at night.

In Argao, the center of activities of this cultural event is its 18th century town center known in the old days as cabecera, where the opening program was held.

This site holds the most number of stone buildings in Cebu dating back to the 1780s. It is home to Argao's municipal h…

Cebu youth teams present their ideas for healthier communities through Unilab Ideas Positive

Six youth teams from Cebu pitched their positive ideas for a healthy change in communities in this year’s national run of Unilab Ideas Positive-- the only social marketing congress and competition for college students in the country today.

Cebu had the most number of youth delegate teams that advanced to the program’s live screening phase—they are now up against 22 other groups from Metro Manila, North & South Luzon and Mindanao for a chance to win P100, 000 seed money for them to jumpstart their projects.

Aside from the funding, the chosen teams will also be flown to Manila this June, with free hotel accommodation, meals and transportation, to attend a 3-day social marketing boot camp.

We believe in the collective power of the youth to be catalysts of positive change in our communities that is why Unilab Ideas Positive came into fruition. The growing number of entries every year prompted us to go nationwide this 2012 and we are immensely humbled by the support our Cebuano youth …

Krispy Kreme opens in Cebu, celebrates 75th birthday!

Cebuanos love quality and have been total suckers for the world's best donuts, Krispy Kreme. The sweet powerhouse opened a new store in less than seven months after the second one. Krispy Kreme just opened the third branch at the SM City Cebu near Starbucks and Chikaan.

Also at the exclusive grand opening, Marketing Manager Mark Gamboa believes the location of their third store is strategic, as it allows travelers who go through the Cebu International Port and nearby terminals to drop by and grab a box of doughnuts before leaving the province and he also shares how the company plans to party up its success for a good cause.

Celebrate Krispy Kreme’s 75th birthday and help spread love by supporting the brand’s Share the Gift of Joy Campaign. With every purchase of Krispy Kreme’s specially-designed 75th birthday tin can, P20 goes to helping 12 charities, which includes

Hapuhap Wellness Spa for the Best Cebu Massage and Rejuvenation

It really wasn't that hard to find especially that I have never been in the area, Hapuhap Wellness Spa is raved for obvious reasons: the quality of service that you can get.

Located at the heart of Cebu, 3rd Floor of the LBR Building, somewhere to the right when taking V. Rama Avenue going to Guadalupe, Hapuhap Wellness Spa gives a full body massage for more than an hour under their well-trained masseurs. After saying how hard the pressure I was preferring, I was taken away to a whole new world that I never knew existed. I've been to most wellness centers here in Cebu with my mom most of the time, and I could not compare the type of massage that they could give.

The ambiance, the attendant, the masseurs, the aroma, the sounds, the kneading, everything was perfect. I was literally trying to stay awake all throughout because it felt all too good. I even hope to try their other services soon.

They are currently offering an off-peak promo with 20% Off on all services from 1PM to 7P…

Why My Mom is Super Awesome!

It has just been a few days ago when the whole world commemorates the very woman in our lives, our mothers. I am very proud to say that my mom is super awesome. She has all the qualities that raised me to my very best even at the worst of circumstances.

To begin with, she risked her life giving birth to three kids, and we all know of the horror stories of our conception, those moments when she almost passed out in so much bodily misery and stress but tried to stay awake just to make sure we get out alive.

She even had to quit her long-time career as a college professor just so she could raise us herself.
She is also that kind of mother who storms in school when she knew that I was bullied and that some people may have taken advantage of me. That is why I tried to be as strong as she is through time, so she doesn’t have to fight the battles I was supposed to conquer myself. Truly, she taught me to be the force to reckon with.

Mommy, Mimi or Mims as I call her is the greatest teacher I’v…

Team “Wait Know More” rules Startup Weekend Cebu

WAITING in queues when paying bills, groceries, medicines, etc. will soon be a hassle of the past as Team “Wait Know More” came up with a solution – a web application with SMS integration -- that would help reduce people’s long waiting times in the shops and won the inaugural Startup Weekend Cebu (SWC) on Sunday (May 13) at the Conference Hall of the University of the Philippines – Cebu (UPC).

The 10-man “Wait Know More” team, composed of members from different age groups – 16 being the youngest and 40 the oldest, ran away with the fabulous top prizes, including incorporation as a United Kingdom entity, as it bested 17 other teams in the 54-hour competition for developers, designers, marketers, technopreneurs, and venture capitalists.

It was a glorious weekend for “Wait Know More” as they were also named the “team that can change people’s lives” and received the special Faster World Award from incubator Kickstart Ventures Inc. Kickstart president and SWC judge Minette Navarrete handed…

Designing a Real Estate Homepage in Photoshop

I may not go into details as there are millions of Photoshop tutorials online but I'm going to impart some insights as we move along. First, designing for web means you have to master CSS first so that you could limit your vision to what could be doable for the browser especially for business websites like real estate.

As what I tell people always, the principles of art must be applied on graphic designs so you can always use them (or even break them!) depending on your call of judgment.

Studying colors, typography, light, shades, placement, how people scan a web page, what makes a striking image, optimizing photos, finding the best patterns, layering, optimizing screen real estate, interpreting design briefs smartly, Web 2.0 and etc. There are so many things you should know as to what must go on within a designer and a developer's mind.

Suppose I wanted to create a portfolio website for our family's fictitious property and I want it to look clean but at the same time ver…
